
Janie Gabbett is a highly skilled communicator who believes bright, competent people can literally communicate their way to the top. She did it herself.
Janie’s own powerful communication skills propelled her to the executive ranks of the world’s largest news and information company.
The former Managing Editor, North America for Reuters, she ran a news operation of 400+ journalists during such global events as the terror attacks of September 11, 2001 and their aftermath. Before that, she ran news operations in Chicago, Hong Kong, Los Angeles and Washington D.C. A journalist by trade, Janie has been published globally, including the New York Times, the Washington Post and the International Herald Tribune. Her television experience includes being a featured reporter on the Nightly Business Report.
She knows from interviewing CEOs and politicians that there is an art to building rapport and trust in a five minute conversation.

Janie is an incisive editor and wordsmith. She honed her negotiating skills at the bargaining table with the New York Newspaper Guild. She is a gifted orator with a passion for storytelling and humor. A master at role play, she has prepared scores of executives for big speeches, important meetings and difficult employee discussions. She has also launched many careers by coaching managers into improved interpersonal, written and speaking skills.
Janie completed a one-year coaching apprenticeship and is certified in such tools as:
- renowned executive coach Marshall Goldsmith’s coaching methodology
- the Meyers-Briggs Type Indicator personality profile instrument
- Process Communications Model (PCM) communication style profile instrument (Janie was certified in this process by President Bill Clinton's communications coach).
Janie has a bachelor of sciences degree from the University of Illinois in Communications. She is a member of the Worldwide Association of Business Coaches and the National Association of Female Executives.
Most importantly, she is passionate about the power of clear, strategic communication. She attributes her 25-year track record of success solely to her skills as a communicator. She now uses those skills with only one goal in mind: her clients’ success.
